Sinopse"This book, FGV FinTechs & Law, is a result from two international modules conceived and carried out during the long period of restrictions due to the COVID Pandemic. The work brings together the contribution of several professional experts and faculty members both from FGV and from its international partner institutions. Prof. Padua Lima and Prof. Vianna, enhancing the FGV tradition in participating and analyzing the domestic and international financial markets, understood that it was opportune to reflect on the new wave of financial innovations that emerged during and immediately after the 2008 global financial crisis. It is important to point out that in Brazil the financial reform carried out shortly after the Stabilization Plan in 1995 avoided the more harmful consequences of the 2008 global crisis and provided the capacity both to accompany international financial innovations and to develop new domestic outcomes. Therefore, the beginning of the twenties in this century in Brazil was fruitful with several important financial innovations. For instance, it is worth to mention the instant payment method, “PIX”, responsible for the inclusion of practically the entire Brazilian population and with billions of annual transactions. In order to address such a vast subject, themes were structured in order to cover part of the extensive recent innovations and those which were taking place at the time. The modules were organized based on the discussion about the regulatory aspects of financial innovations in general and specifically the means of payment. Special attention was also given to the relationship between incumbents and entrants in this new ecosystem. Topics related to open finance; digital assets, cryptocurrencies, use of block chain technology and the revolution in the traditional insurance industry were part of the subsequent sessions. Two seminars with distinguished keynote speakers complete this book which aims to deal with the opportunities and challenges existing in the Brazilian financial market. "
